Abstract:
Southeast Asia is a world that is both far and near, and also a world that seems familiar to strangers. It has deeply penetrated and affected Taiwan, but Taiwan still views it with a traditional great-power-centered mentality, unable to understand the multi-civilizational nature of the Southeast Asian world and the Southeast Asian world sandwiched between two major civilizations (China and India). What kind of solution is needed? It is even less clear that the non-linear history of Southeast Asia has a similar structure to that of Taiwan. This time, on the occasion of the publication of Kodansha’s world history series, we invite Southeast Asian expert Teacher Zheng Yongchang to lead us into the multi-civilization world of Southeast Asia and think about the relationship with Taiwan.
