The architectural structures historically referred to as Kuva (public shrines) are closely tied to the traditional Alid (ancestral) beliefs of the Siraya people, and they possess significant potential as cultural heritage assets, meriting further investigation. This lecture will focus on the Siraya settlements of Danei and Zuozhen, south of the Zengwen River. The initial phase of the study involves selecting representative Kuva structures within the region based on previous survey data. Following this, a thorough investigation and documentation of these key sites will be conducted. Within this contextual framework, the lecture will propose a comprehensive cultural heritage survey of Kuva and traditional beliefs among the Siraya south of the Zengwen River. Additionally, it will aim to complete a current status census of Siraya Kuva in the greater Tainan area, supporting future cultural heritage nominations for the preservation of Siraya Kuva and Alid traditional belief systems, as well as facilitating comparative research on the topic.
